"When they can barely pass a test, or can’t spell THATS A PROBLEM. These are who is supposed to take care of u when you are older, supposed to lead active productive lives, start their own families etc."

While I believe your message is with good intention, your failure to comprehend even the simplest of grammar is simply comedic. In this scenario, both the misguided and ignorant youth and yourself lose and irony reigns champion.

I think that you have to feel comfortable voicing your needs and wishes. Sometimes people let things slide for the sake of love. Don't get me wrong, I don't think a person should nag their mate, because whether you ask a person once or fifty times they already know whether or they are willing to do the task after the initial request.

I would just say, don't let things fester. Voice your views, wants and needs so that your partner knows whether or not it's a BIG deal.

I believe the more important thing is to always remember how did this person first caught your sight, and then your heart. The person that you thought he/she is. Keeping that in mind, being able to communicate is the way to keep that belief real and strong. When he/she says "it's no big deal", you should tell him/her why you think "it's not a small deal". When he/she says "you should be able to get groceries on the way back home from work", you should tell her what you have experienced at work that day, and you would be exhausted by then. To me, love is like a trade, not financially, but emotionally and mentally. The trade loses value when there is no more "activities", eventually the value will go down to zero.

I'll agree with the girl in the kitchen, but I also believe that it should be a two way road. If the guy can't cook for the lady, he will be missing out on some great meals. Show her that you can handle the kitchen just as well as she can.

I think CasuAL makes a decent point. If you know you haven't got the time, energy or desire to become deeply involved don't. Don't look for people that are interested in something serious. If you are only in the market for a good time then just have a good time responsibly.

Not to put my own personal biz out there but I have experienced one or more of these reasons to not get too deep with someone.

Its just gets harder and harder, because as you get older you get more responsible (or you should get more responsible)... and you don't want to really hurt anyone for selfish reasons.

So as of late, I have been less inclined to get involved with someone on any level if I know I got:

A: Other things going on, or
B: Someone else in my life.
